In 2021, Aeropuerto Santiago de Chile signed a Clean Production Agreement with the Sustainability and Climate Change Agency to apply the ISO 14046 standard in evaluating the airport's water footprint and identify direct and indirect water consumption, effects on human health and related ecosystems.
From ISO 14046 certification, advance in identifying critical points and developing actions to reduce water use and its territorial impact, including a water reuse project from the Wastewater Treatment Plant and other sources, under a circular economy approach.
Since 2020, Aeropuerto Santiago de Chile has maintained a reforestation of 21,000 native species in the northern area of the airport under a Forest Management Plan approved by CONAF and the Civil Aeronautics Directorate.
In parallel, since 2019, a tree donation programme was implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of Pudahuel, achieving the planting of more than 600 native species for the recovery of green areas in the municipality.
Continue with activities defined in the Forest Management Plan and maintenance of airport green areas, considering measures to reduce water consumption and improve the Forest Management Plan terrain by incorporating compost generated from the treatment of organic waste at the airport.
