Since 2021, Aeropuerto Santiago de Chile and the airport community have worked on implementing various improvements in waste management, disposal and processing, including a programme focused on food, beverage and retail commercial premises at Terminals T1 and T2, as well as another programme focused on cargo warehouses on the apron, which seek to add value to waste by advancing towards a circular economy approach.
Improve waste management (currently decentralised) by incorporating improvements in waste control and reception in rooms, making the recovery of recyclable waste generated at the airport more efficient.
Implement improvements and additional equipment to increase the treatment of organic waste generated at Terminals T1 and T2 and its valorisation as compost.
